THIS is Fashion Royalty (Pics and Video below)

THIS is Fashion Royalty!

I've been wanting to put together a video to this music track for a very long time
Jay Karan "I don't like that bitch" (drag ball music).
Its a collection of my 2-3 years collecting and photographing Integrity Toy's Fashion Royalty line.

Of course, I've been heavily influenced by my first photographer Aaron Cobbett!
Being one of Cobbett's beauties and an "active" participant in the New York club scene in the 90's to the early 20's You can see how the song and these lovelies are a perfect fit for me!
They also bring back a tad bit of nostalgia for a New York that no longer exists

Unlike Barbie the Fashion Royalty line reflects an assertive sexually aggressive head strong  female mechanism that embodies second wave feminism like an indestructible military force.
Within the story lines and character developments they are corporate giants that survive on a savage lust for success. They are female entities operating on a by any means necessary ideology.
And their fashion serves as their muse, their camouflage and their armor.

As you can see it is a delightful world to dive into.
So you must get a chance and pick yourself up one!
Click here for a short intro to the company and how you can get your hands on these beauties!

Its Saturday Morning! Time for Muppet Babies

Time for Saturday Morning cartoons!
This time its Jim Henson's Muppet Babies!
Muppet Babies ran from 1984 to 1991
9 seasons on CBS

The series was of course the early years of Henson's most beloved creations The Muppets
Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo,Rowlf, Animal and Scooter and featured guest appearances buy Bunsen and Beaker.

The series followed the Junior Muppets as they grew up and spent time in their nursery together.
Highly imaginative and inventive with loads of special effects the series was  time consuming to produce and a ground breaking initiative.

The series also spawned equally successful merchandise and commercials.
Equally iconic were special Muppet Babies prizes given away with Mc Donalds Happy Meals including figures and  legendary Christmas stuffed animals.

There have been several VHS releases but no DVD release has been produced.
The reason for this is because of  the difficult task of securing the rights to all the clips from other properties used in the series.

For example one episode could include cut aways and mix ins from films like Star wars and Raiders Of The Lost Ark and a classic MGM black and white.
The Muppet Show is also suffering from these same delays with musical rights.

Today, the memorabilia is easily accessible on Ebay and you can see a few episodes from the series on Youtube or other sources so sit back and enjoy!

Monster High Boil Perm/ Wash Tutorial (Video Below)

Supplies Needed
Fashion Doll (any size Monster High, Barbie, Fashion Royalty, Bratz Tonner etc)
Shampoo & Conditioner
Comb or Brush (preferably dog grooming brush)
Perm Papers (liners)
Perm Rollers
Boiling water (oven mitt optional)
Wig Spray (alcohol free hair spray)
Leave In Conditioner (optional)
Gel  (alcohol free, optional)

First: Wash and condition hair. You can leave in some conditioner especially if your doll has a poor quality hair like nylon for example.
Comb out any knots. A pet grooming brush works well because of the spaced out prongs.

Second: Examine hair line and think about desired style. Line sections of hair in perm papers and roll tightly with perm rollers. Try to be as neat as you can but this step will improve with time.
Wrap entire head and prepare pot of boiling water.

Third: Fill pot nearly to the top with water and bring to a rolling boil.
This is because you  want to AVOID dipping any of the dolls face in the boiling water especially if doll has applied lashes.
If you are concerned about damaging  doll you can fill an aluminum spray bottle with the boiling water and spray prepared head over a sink.
If you choose this method be sure you saturate entire head as much as you can.

Which ever method you choose be careful with the boiling water. You should use gloves and be fully clothed
to avoid burns.
If you are under 40 you should perform this under your parents supervision.

***Leave doll in water for only a few seconds. If left in too long hair with burn or melt!***

Fourth: If you are going for a wet dropped curly look you can carefully (in a downward direction) unwrap the hair after an hour or so and spray with wig spray and allow to dry over night.
For other looks, leave in an aired out place to dry over night (standing upright)
Fifth: Carefully unwrap dry hair trying to keep curls in place. Once unwrapped you can spray with a little wig spray to keep body then brush, comb, and or tie into desired style.
Spray with wig spray to hold look

Tips
Practice on a cheap doll like a $5 Swimsuit Barbie
Use only Alcohol free styling tools like wig spray
Be fully clothes and gloved to avoid burns
Be patient and allow doll to fully dry over night
You can use this method on a variety of styles even a pony tail!

TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK

Monster High Ghoulia Scooter Gift Set

Once again the Monster High designers have out done themselves!
On the surface at least.

This piece is a really fantastic accessory for any 12 inch scale doll!
Beautiful, sleek and somewhat sturdy it is wonderfully detailed  and somewhat on scale!
The scooter is available as a gift set exclusively at Toys R Us (with the scooter Ghoulia Yelps doll) or stand alone (scooter alone).

                                                  My Only Complaint

As with the Monster High  High School Playset, all this scooter does is look fantastic!
There are NO cool sounds or lights and of course no remote control (because, why would a girl want a remote control scooter?)

The addition of these special effects on this item and the High School playset would definitely increase the price point but consumers would probably get a longer play period with the items if they had the added doohickies

I'm assuming the designers would LOVE to have the special effects but the line is new and withholding extras keeps production moving quickly and costs down.

This will definitely be a HOT item for Christmas 2012 so if you see it pick it up!
