This is obviously a remake (or Remix) of the original from 1974

THIS IS A TOYS R US EXCLUSIVE!

Which means you should grab one up as soon as possible
Whether or not you plan to keep it or sell it!
At this particular store there was only 2
Expect these to be rare come October or as soon as commercials star airing.

Another note; Not so sure what being a TRU exclusive will have to do with the item's quality. A simple glance at reviews for Barbie's Three Story Dream Town House and Glam Jet will show you that maybe Mattel has not been know for quality or valuing their customers dollar and has developed a rather poor reputation when it comes to product durability.

Will this hot ticket item suffer the same fate??
You'll just have to check item reviews to find out!

Keep receipts, always check Mattel for extra parts and ALWAYS write and read reviews yourself!

I personally don't like the item  terribly  because of the off scale design. I HATE when the dolls don't actually fit in the rooms or in the furniture. Here, (as with the Town House) you can see on the box (fashionista) Cutie's head sticking out of the roof. Also, the Barbie on the roof top observation deck is way off scale, with roof shingles at her waist (!?). Below, the Sporty (male Fashionista) barely fits at the table.

I HATE that Mattel does this? Why produce items for dolls that they won't fit in?!?!?

** (EDIT) I've just been informed by legendary Barbie Play set collector (NeonRocker)That this house is in fact much smaller than the original. The dolls actually fit in the original house! SHAME!

New Wonder Woman for 2011

Fashion Royalty Scene Stealer Isha Quick Video

This particular Isha is Just stunning!
I know the Integrity character is supposed to be an Indian Film Star but to me, this sculpt and screening invokes a Middle Eastern background.

The long nose and almond eye shape common in Northern Egypt, Greece and Lebanon.

Try searching Najwa Karam or even Sophia Loren and compare!

Disney Princesses Designer Collection...of....? (Video Below)

The New Disney Princesses Collection has arrived in "select" Disney stores

Each week a different Princess will be released

Once they sell out of each princess they will be gone forever (That Disney vault is getting crowded!)

The girls come in these acrylic cases just as you see for easy display.

The BEST things about these dolls are the designer sketches.

Like most of (Mattel designer )Bill Greening's designs, these sketches did not translate well into plastic.

THEY ARE UGLY!

The gowns are awkward and ill-fitting.

This biggest let down is the Pocahontas gown and doll.

I was hoping since this was the most realistic ensemble It would fit nicely on a Fashion Royalty or Barbie body.

But no.

The doll is too wide of hip and too flat of chest for even Barbie.

And the face is just awful!

I suppose die hard Disney Fans and Middle America will gobble these up (Because they're  a part of  the doll collecting world that has never peaked inside a copy of Vogue or because they think these dolls will make them rich in a year)

BUT

For the discriminating doll collector more than one or none would be quite enough!

P.S.

The best Disney Princess dolls still seem to be those sold at the Parks!

Why Do you De-Box?

Some little Cha Cha queen from Brazil or Peru on my Flickr account asked me:

I think Psychologically (for me) it's about keeping some of the special moment you had when you first saw the object in the store.

While I have done research on persuasion tactics employed by the toy industry, I have not yet fully examined why some collectors chose to keep in box (forever) and some take out.

I've wondered also, if you take out of box (toys and dolls) are you really a collector? or do you just have or buy toys?

I've read in a book: Collecting: An Unruly Passion (which was a psycho analysis of collectors), Some people hold on to items for a while and then open them at a later date (me sometimes). Some researchers feel this has to do with their toilet training!

I like to delay pleasure or wait to the end of the work week to open dolls and toys (the ones I plan on opening) I have things that are bought in March that I wait until Christmas to open so I still keep that excitement for Christmas day!

And the ones I keep in box are sometimes to commemorate a special day or trip or I feel are too precious and exquisite to take out..or simply would look better in box!

So I will look for further research through the University search engine and get back to you

In the meantime what do you think??
